We've done two subway related strips in the past week and a half! Well, we've been spending a lot of time on public transit, and it's a gold mine.

To you ladies - are romance novels girl porn? I do believe that they are.

My friends and I used to challenge each other to go into book stores and read aloud from romance novels. It was like russian roulette - one person closes their eyes and points to a page at random, which they then have to read aloud in their most dramatic voice. We got the boot from a couple of bookstores that way, until we finally found one where the staff joined us. Try this game! It is loads of fun.

I'll be at Otakon this upcoming weekend! Then Yuko and I will be at SDCC (no table), and then Yuko and I will be at Connecticon (also Conrad?) ... we'll have a table there with some merch to sell. I'm personally not a fan, but I also made a very hilarious game of dragging a friend to a bookstore and reading passages aloud. I recommend Christina Dodd for it. Very sappy.

I was re-reading Questionable Content because I enjoy seeing how one's art progresses to see if I can catch the little things that lead to it. Anyway this totally reminded me of Jimbo the redneck in the dive bar that writes those romance novels!

well, i've seen something funnier.

This burly man was sitting in front of me reading a manga. So I decided to peep at what manga he was reading.

Turns out he was reading hardcore yaoi. With sex sex sex. I realised why he was not reading it wide open. XD

I couldn't stop grinning myself throughout the bus journey.

I read a lot of romance books and a lot of porn and the romance novels of today are better and cheaper and more numerous. They are also so sometimes more kinky depending on the author( Laurell K Hamilton)

A friend of a friend wrote an editorial for his university paper in which he equated the Twilight novels to female pornography. Needless to say, he did not get away from that one without some scratches. Seriously, women tore him apart. They're extremely protective of their vampire themed literature.

One time my friend made me buy a vampire romance novel for her because she was embarrassed to be seen with it. Then another friend started reading it aloud in homeroom. That conversation went something like this:

Absolutely girl porn.
Where as guys can get right into it, have no problem with 'hi...I'm here to deliver a pizza--with EXTRA sausage--> instant sex', girls, in general, do better with a little more emotional/psychological involvement first. We want to know WHY the busty-yet-vulnerable redhead is getting plowed like the field of her father's estate by the moody-yet-deep farmhand/nobleman-in-disguise.
I'm not saying that girls can't appreciate regular porn, nor that the sex is all we read the romance novels for...but when I was in my teens, those were what would have been hidden under my mattress if I had felt the need to hide my porn.

I'm not sure if this is a direct analogue, but the romantic fanfics I've come across definitely all end in porn. I've never finished a "real" romance novel- or even the first chapter of one- though, so I can't say. :/
