at least we have a nice view

Into the abyyysssss....

Moving up and down the stairs normally is fine, but moving furniture and boxes of books up them is a terror.

OH AND HEY, Steve and Mike are our two new roommates!  I think they'll formally get introduced next week.  But they exist!

It's actually distinctly possible that the place did shake in the wind despite having survived two earthquakes. Buildings designed to survive quakes tend to be relatively flexible compared to the sort built on seismically-inactive ground, meaning that a strong wind could make them wobble just enough to be noticeable.

I suppose there are

I suppose there are adavanta... Okay maybe not...
Ahh, just think, the wonders of trying to climb them drunk! I think setting up a CCTV for drunk visits would be a good idea. :D

The scene in which the ghostbusters climb up the Ivo Shandor Building stairs went through my head while reading this.

completely unrelated to this

completely unrelated to this comic, but I noticed that Encyclopedia Dramatica uses your pokemon comic in the pokemon article on there, saying it's 100% accurate in describing the game XD

as much as it sucks you'll

Comment by Smabb (not verified) Fri, 08/21/2009 - 21:00

as much as it sucks you'll only have to move all those boxes and mattress and stuff up the five flights of stairs twice. It's not like you have to do it daily.

On the bright side....

Comment by Vero (not verified) Fri, 08/21/2009 - 22:15

Think of how inconvenient it will be for someone to steal your things, though. :D

Are John and Conrad are going to be leaving the comic, they need an official farewell. With some snipe about Conrad's lack of smell. *giggle*

Great Comic =) . A lot of my friends live in no elevator buildings and I have had to help quite a few of them move. The always seem to end up on the top floor for some reason. If I ever become very rich I will buy a nice building with an elevator and move a bunch of my friends into it. Also being one of the few people in my circle of friends who has a car (old reliable 93 jeep grand cherokee). I get asked to help with IKEA trips quite often.

Ah, I can definitely relate

Ah, I can definitely relate to this one. I'm on the fourth floor of a dorm building with no elevator (how they go without even a freight elevator or something for wheelchair access is beyond me) and no A/C in the stairwells. Dragging up amplifiers and boxes crammed with books is no fun. Oh well, at least it's good exercise.

That view is pretty scary! I'd be pretty unhappy trying to move stuff up there as well. I can't even see the floor in that photo.

Dartboard on bottom, drop darts from top. I use magnetic darts when I do it since there's obviously some safety issues with dropping sharp objects from 5 stories up. The highest I've ever played was 3 stories so you guys have got it good.

i couldn't agree with you

i couldn't agree with you more ( i lived in a 4 story apt and lived at the top floor)

p.s. the fridge and the washer were a bitch

ive also seen worse

im reminded of a time when my brother's girlfriend had to move to a different place. she was in the 2nd basement, which is actually one floor up from the stairwell entry outside. only problem was, there was a kindergarten on the ground floor of her stairwell. thus, we had to move stuff up 3 floors to the ground floor, walk 20 feet, then DOWN 2 flights of stairs. all in all, a rather terrible move-in.

Egad - I feel you.

I moved to Austin, TX earlier Saturday. My room was on the third floor outside in the 103+ heat. Luckily I didn't have anything huge like a washer/dryer, dresser, bed, couch, chair, tables, ect because I would have left it at the bottom and found some guys to take it up. As it was, I had over 400 movies, books, and a full kitchen worth of stuff. Long story short, I'm glad it was just three flights, not five. As always, love the comic.

So many stairs...Ouch...

Up and Down

Comment by JL (not verified) Mon, 08/24/2009 - 17:02

My husband and I lived in a fourth floor walkup for almost four years. You get used to the up and down, but laundry day is the worse. When you move out make sure that you have enough people to create a fire brigade down the stairs and pass items down instead of running up and down yourself. If you can't get that many people, hire movers. :D

Found your comic through
