It's a sauna down there, and showering becomes a moot point once you're down on the platform. New York has an extensive subway system, which is great, but it's also old, so it wasn't constructed with maximum ventilation in mind. It's usually worth it to wait till you come home to shower, but that's just me.

The subways in LA though are enormous and the weather is always pleasant, its a wonder the transit system in LA isn't as extensive in NY when its so much bigger here and you really need it to get anywhere if you don't have a car. I just moved out of the tri-state and I can recall your pain having traversed those subways oh so many times carrying oh so heavy groceries on the more than packed 6 trains.

According to my father, before trains were air conditioned, the subway stations were cool (because they're underground). The trains were hot, though.

It's because the air conditioners exhaust a lot of hot air that the stations are now so warm.

This is VERY true. If you ever find yourself walking just above the 4, 5, 6 trains @ Union Square... well I hope you are wearing fireproof underwear.

LoL I live in Australia so I know how heat can be. We're coming up soon to summer and I have no aircon, so it'll be just like this while hanging around my own house LoL. Humid days are even worse for it :/

Anyway, when can we purchase these books?! I needs me one plus some bookmarks! ^________^

The book looks fantastic, and I shall certainly purchase one (or two, or three as gifts). Congrats on a job well done!

I started reading your comic when I was living in Germany, and I must say that the light-hearted, offbeat stories really lifted my spirits when I was feeling particularly homesick. Many thanks to all of you at _Johnny Wander_ for providing a little bit of "home" to all parts of the globe.

Man I know how that is, the L-trains in Chicago weren't too much better, but I think they did have better air conditioning usually. New York from the visits I had were pretty intense in the summer/ fall. Cool books you have printed as well, I'll be working on that soon myself.

The unbearably hot subway platforms let you appreciate the nice, cool, air conditioned subway cars even more! ;)

Also, the LIRR totally owns the subway! :D
