A quick note about some dwindling items in the store!
It's a banana, you assholes.
But seriously, this cat didn't like the banana and so he ruined it. You're a piece of work, Rook.
Just a heads up - there are only about 15 BEACH sets left (in existence) and only about 5 Puppy totes left (also in existence). The BEACH set was a limited run, and we won't be reprinting the totes! Get 'em while you can. Books are still available in the store, of course.
We have a lot of work to do today and so I gotta keep it short! See you Thursday!

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 16:41This is seriously all the reason why I don't let me cats near bananas...after the third time..and with the third cat I finally learned my lesson. Glad to know I am not the only one...
Animals and fruit don't mix
Comment by Aube (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 16:50My dog always acts like she wants whatever it is I am eating, if I show it to her for her to try she just walks away without even checking it out.
Any chance the Phoenix down shirts will rise again? my first print is wearing some holes to the point I almost don't want to wear it anymore as to not ruin it.
Yeah I wanted to buy a
Comment by Kuragari (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 21:57Yeah I wanted to buy a phoenix down tshirt but they were gone before I started reading the comic. I'd really like to buy a poster of the 1st design, wearing extended writing usually gets a lot of people reading my shirt and having to tell them what it means... this seems like it'd be one of those shirts... the lightning bolts are ok... but they don't really scream JW to me either...
Ditto
Comment by Andrew (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 16:54Cats are weird.
Huh
Comment by Dorothy (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 17:10I guess my cat was really weird; She liked bananas.
She'd steal the entire clump of them if we left them within her reach.
Cats and Bananas
Comment by Walter (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 17:10Either that or he's marking it for later. My mom has three cats from my sister and they'll eat almost anything they see you eating including bananas. Its almost like Johnny Wander comic on 04/15/2010.
This is why I'm a dog person.
Comment by Matt (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 17:13Living garbage cans. Eat anything. No regrets.
My cat does this ALL THE TIME
Comment by AlanaAplesauce (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 17:45My cat does this ALL THE TIME
=.=
Comment by Izalebeth (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 18:15My cat, darling thing that she is, will lick anything she is unsure about. So you know she's not gonna eat it, but she won't leave you alone until the taste test, just to be sure.
They do it on purpose. "If I don't like it, you may not eat it either, or ever buy it again!"
Cats & Puppy
Comment by Nziz (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 19:02My cats don't seem to care about bananas, but I've seen some online that eat them happily.
In other news, I got my book, tote, and Puppy keychain in the mail, and they're all awesome.
I am extra pleased to report that they keychain makes a FANTASTIC NECKLACE. I love it so.
Thank you for the awesome!
Oh of cats and various foods
Comment by FriendlyStray (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 19:25Haha, oh Rook. You uphold the legacy of your people. My cat will lick anything with salt on it. Once I left a bowl of popcorn on my coffee table for a few moments, only to return and reach my hand into a bowl of soggy corn. D:

Comment by robocotte (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 19:59you didn't even get a single bite of it nooo! :(
"I don't want it, but it's mine now :D"
Comment by Fraoch (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 20:09My cats do this ALL the time, except they would lick the food and then step on it.
This is practically a scene
Comment by Megan (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 20:13This is practically a scene from my life! My cat Graham used to try to eat almost anything, but for some reason he never liked apples. But he'd still beg. I'd say, "Cat, you don't want this, you don't like this. We've been through this before." But he'd still meow till I held out a piece to him. Absolute nutter.
Ew
Comment by Sven (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 20:35I'm kinda curious what Yuko did with the banana afterwards, haha.
Yeah dude! What IS it with
Comment by Adexis (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 20:39Yeah dude! What IS it with cats anyways.
I offered my cat some sweet potato fries, because she was grubbing for fish and was NOT getting any. ...but she ate the fries.
Also, fruit roll-ups. Dayum Zeus loves her fruit roll-ups.
Seagulls.
Comment by Toad (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 21:09Seagulls are much more accepting. I shared a cookie with one before class today.
That was nice
Comment by Awesome Music Vids (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 22:50But depending on the cookie, we may be discussing a future diabetic seagull. I mean read Men's Health, I'm sure Chips Ahoy has enough imitation-sugar-made-out-of-gay-rainforest-puppies'-tears in it to fill a Mack Truck. I would stick to dry bread crumbs.
also, unrelated but CELTICS BEAT HEAT ON OPENING DAY WOOHOO O-vuh-rat-ed 'Bron. #20 Ray Allen's three point shot is awesome.
My cats do this to me all
Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 21:26My cats do this to me all the time... I end up feeding the ruined cat fur covered items to my husband :-)
mew mew bananacat!
Comment by Jingseng (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 22:22love this comic =) my bombay lisa is fascinated with bananas too... but thus far, she only seems interested in the end of the peel, as something to gnaw on.
she does like to rub against absolutely everything though... but food that does not meet her definition of food will instead fall under the category of toy -_- And thus dragged around, batted, and so forth. Scrambled eggs were wasted in this fashion, as well as some rotisserie chicken (though she liked the skin)
separated at birth
Comment by Remy (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 22:38my, Lulu, cat looks exactly like Rook, and does that exact same thing with almost any food/object you stick in his face. If we got them together we wouldn't be able to tell them apart afterwards.

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 22:57"You do not want banana, cat."
For some reason, I imagine Yuko saying this in the same tone as a villain would say "You are no match for me."
I had a cat that would eat
Comment by Hannah Skoonberg (not verified) Tue, 10/26/2010 - 23:46I had a cat that would eat occasional goldfish crackers. And make a huge pile of crumbs.
I know this cat.
Comment by sugarapplesweet (not verified) Thu, 10/28/2010 - 12:11My cat does the same thing. She LOVES them; maybe even more than I do.
I was gonna.
Comment by Ceylon (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 00:28I was going to comment with an obvious innuendo about felines and bananas, but decided I rather like not being shot. It's the option that lets me stick around and read more.
But I guess even Rook has his limits of what he'll eat. Still impressive!
cats
Comment by FrozenPhoenix (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 01:28in a situation like that, I would have pulled off a little bit of the banana and see if Rook ate the little bit. if he did then 'wooooo' another thing he likes to eat. if he didn't then it'd just be a tiny bit wasted.
at least that's what I do with my cat. often she just likes to smell our breath after we eat something.
Cats like danishes
Comment by Sarah (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 02:26My boyfriend's cat once went uncomfortably out of her way to have some of my danish. I've also successfully fed her bits of potato chip, chinese food, and gelato. She doesn't like popcorn though :S
Muh?
Comment by Peter N. Trinh (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 04:17Ha ha, what was with the preemptive strike there Ananth? At first I thought it was a reference to something, but the only thing I ended up finding was a clip of the show Red Dwarf on the BBC YouTube channel!
Bad Kitteh.
Comment by Joe D. (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 06:25Bananas are NOT FOR RUBBING.
Maybe it's just me... but
Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 06:55Maybe it's just me... but why does Rook remind me so much of Toothless from 'How to train your dragon?'
Our cat, Shiloh, is a slate
Comment by Deluxe (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 07:23Our cat, Shiloh, is a slate grey shorthair, and my wife keeps telling me she looks like Toothless. I must see this movie.
It's not a coincidence.
Comment by Scruffy (not verified) Thu, 10/28/2010 - 02:47It's not a coincidence. Toothless's design was inspired by a photo of a panther and was given very definite feline characteristics. Personally, his slight cross-eyes remind me of some Siamese I've known. But yes. Toothless is basically a big kitty. That flies and breathes fire. I shudder to think of real cats with those abilities...
Hey, maybe it's something
Comment by Santiago (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 09:43Hey, maybe it's something they do to protect their cat friends from bad food. Maybe he did it OUT OF LOVE, EVERY THINK OF THAT =0
Our cat is the same
Comment by Novaoblivion (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 10:14No matter what you are eating our cat ALWAYS needs to be able to stick her head in it to make sure she doesn't want some of it haha.
I have banana nomming cats
Comment by Grandus (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 10:41One will just lick and bite it outright if you put it in front of her. The other does what we call the 'spoon hand' where she'll curl her hand to grab a chunk and carry it off for investigation. The sisters do share one habit though. If they don't like the food, they punch it.
Must be a black cat thing
Comment by Razor (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 14:08My Tai (also a black cat, hmm) would probably do this. She begs and begs and BEGS and begs and begs and...
(cat fur banana. ackkphoooie!)
tote
Comment by Leah (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 15:10I really hope my bf was one of the people to get the last 5 totes. :S. I told him I wanted one for my birthday a while ago. *wishes, hopes, prays*
Also, rook is funny.
He just didn't want Yuko to
Comment by MrE (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 15:35He just didn't want Yuko to enjoy it.
Probably. That sounds like
Comment by Sven (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 16:53Probably. That sounds like a cat sort of thing.
Cats
Comment by Jasmine P. (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 18:08Rook's silly. My dad's cats never had much to say about what we were eating. My friend's cat Elvis thinks every time someone's in the kitchen he's going to be fed.
hahaha
Comment by larticle (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 22:02Funny thing cause my boyfriend just showed me a silly video of a cat dressed up as a banana split eating a banana...
Mina can haz banana?
Comment by Cathy (not verified) Wed, 10/27/2010 - 22:32My cat's favorite treats are bits of banana. She knows the sound of snapping one off the bunch or breaking open the peel, and will come running.
Bananas are overrated anyway

Comment by Jupiter (not verified) Thu, 10/28/2010 - 18:16Hah, I have an idiot cat who freaks out and acts like he LOVES bananas, and won't leave me alone until I let him smell one. Then he sniffs it and recoils with the most disgusted look on his face...then goes back to sniff it again, repeat. Until I take the banana away from him and he starts crying for it again.
Cats are so stupid. I love them.
