what a MUGNIFICENT collection

Thu, 11/03/2011 - 16:06 by Ananth in response to mugs mugs mugs

Ugh, that puns hurts me more than it hurts you. Oof.

Yuko and I keep talking about cataloguing her mug collection and so that's just what's going on here. This is the tip of the mug iceberg. I think my favorite mug might be GIRL GIRL GIRL.

Day X of working on volume 2! By which I mean I've lost track. We're getting there! And getting back to work, see you next week!

"Mugnificent." I'm lovin' the puns.

Brontosau- um

Comment by Nik (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 17:07

My friend has the inaccurate plastic mug too! People's mug collections can be fun to go through... mine's awfully boring though. Good luck with the ongoing volume 2!

Oh my gosh, I have that

Comment by Lucy (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 17:25

Oh my gosh, I have that plastic Brontosaurus mug! It leaks, though...

I've been mugged!

Comment by Nick (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 17:27

Aside from the pun, what can I say? Uh... my favourite mug has a tortoise jumping up and catching a frisbee on it.

Comment by Kitty (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 18:07

My parents have a hilarious amount of random mugs. Good to know that other people love odd mugs too.

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 18:18

Hundreds of years from now when future archaeologists examine the pottery remains of our civilization, the plastic brontosaurus mug will be deemed the pinnacle of second millennium household mugs.

All the other mug fragments will then be erroneously arranged to depict other dinosaurs in a similarly inaccurate manner.

Comment by Spooks (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 19:58

I'm pretty sure I have that bunnies in trees mug!

And that plastic dinosaur mug was one of my favorites when I was a kid! Mine had a "T-Rex" on the other side though.

Are these inaccurate mugs

Comment by Elizabeth (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 20:02

Are these inaccurate mugs from the Chicago Field Museum? Because I think I remember having a Brontosaurus, but I definitely have a T-Rex and a Stegosaurus.

Comment by Sary (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 20:04

Is your inaccurate plastic dinosaur mug GREEN? If so, I TOTALLY HAVE THE SAME ONE. My mom uses it to keep coin-rolling papers in Dx I'll relocate said papers to a ziplock eventually when I move out >_> THE MUG IS MINE!

Comment by Tawny (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 20:29

My chemistry professor in college used to collect mugs from different countries. He would always test the glazes for heavy metals. The craziest glaze he found was not from some third world country, but a glaze containing both lead and mercury from *dun dun dun daaaa* Vancouver, Canada. Damn you, Canadians!

You've got a handsome mug

Comment by Emily (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 21:29

Unsatisfactory pun is unsatisfactory. I've been working on my own mug collection for a few years, but it is slow work since I only add to it once or twice a year. My current favorite mug has happy vegetables lined up with their names written in English, katakana and hiragana next to them. (:

I think Yuko's mug

Comment by Lyndse (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 21:58

I think Yuko's mug collection is pretty awesome. It's cool to collect unusual things.

I collect stuff, but you know, just stuff that people normally collect. Like buttons (the kind you pin on). Or corny, tacky souveniers.

I used to collect coins and foreign money, but not anymore. Long story. :|

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Thu, 11/03/2011 - 23:53

Might just be my Astigmatism here, but does that mug look like it says "Proud to be Class of '63" to anyone else?

No, I read it right. I just felt old when I did.

Woo mugs!

My mug is a year of the monkey mug with characteristics of the monkey. I got it in an asian store in albany. It's legit. :3

Dollar Store!

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Fri, 11/04/2011 - 00:18

I'm Canadian, and for some reason (The Simpsons?) I thought Americans called dollar stores "99 cent stores"... maybe that applies in some places, but I'm glad to see you're not ALL needlessly polysyllabic.

This is a very cute collection by the way. And "mugnificient" made me laugh.

Woah. I graduated the same year as Yuko. For some reason I always assume people are older than me.

Xmas Mugs

Comment by C.D. Reimer (not verified) Fri, 11/04/2011 - 01:01

I have an odd assortment of Christmas mugs. Probably because there were $0.50 each the day after Christmas. Did I mention that I'm a cheap bastard? :)

Mugging mugger mugs.

Comment by Pairou (not verified) Fri, 11/04/2011 - 02:54

That French mug looks like it could be a soup mug... it's all wide and such.

I remember the older mug comic! I'm glad to get to see more of the collection. (Mugs are awesome.) My favorite one on this one is the cat mug... meow!

Thirty Hurts has and will always be my favorite mug at your place. I demand that, on the day I turn 30, I get to drink out of that mug. The mug will be filled with POISON.

I have a collection of five-ish rainbow mugs and one Jack Daniel's mug. The Jack Daniel's mug is for my husband because he refuses to use my 'gay' rainbow mugs (he's not-homophobic, that's just his joke about my silly mugs). I WANT MORE RAINBOW MUGS. My next mug should be a Pink Floyd 'Dark Side of the Moon' mug, that way my husband will have two mugs he can use!

Because Pink Floyd can't be gay ;D

I actually work at good will. Some of the mugs we get are the shiz, and some just make me want to curl up into a ball. It's really hit or miss

My favourite mug.

Comment by Rob (not verified) Sun, 11/06/2011 - 19:46

Its a mug with a big lady wearing an apron with a carrot on it. Its made in some ancient plastic that makes it really lightweight.

I love it because its my rpg-mug. Spent many a day playing dnd and drinking Lapsang from that baby.

Puns hurt?

Comment by the1truesushiboy (not verified) Sun, 11/06/2011 - 23:08

What? Utter mendacious confabulation! If all the word's a stage, my life's a play on words. Puns are a necessary part of one's verbal arsenal. Why, rapier wit is the only way to make truly ingenious, cutting remarks. Wordplay is a weapun of mass discussion. Though, it's best to be careful when going about it. After all, it's all fun and games until somebody loses an I.

Now I wish I knew where my old Barnum circus tiger mug was... Probably got thrown out. Damn.

My current mug is one of those bell-shaped cafe mugs, from Weta, with a weta cricket and the company logo printed on the outside, and a smaller weta cricket on the inside. My mother hates it, I love it. Especially since she broke my favourite mugs from Dancing Dragon.... }:(.

I've got a small mug collection, with an upside down Santa (I guess they painted it upside down without realizing it.), a bunch of salamanders, and dogs driving sailboats.

Shot glasses

Comment by DanicusRex (not verified) Wed, 10/31/2012 - 07:29

I have a similar thing going with Goodwill and shot glasses. So far, the crown jewel of my collection is a shot glass with a viking ship on it, sideways, gold around the rim of the glass, and, inexplicably, the word "ISLAND" in all caps below the viking ship. just the word ISLAND.

It's truly beautiful to behold.

Cup collections are awesome.
