Times Square can be a nightmare sometimes! There are just a lot of people. So many. Oh man. I have to charge my coping meter before heading into Times Square, but at least it's not as bad as IKEA

Ugh, big-city hordes. I would probably respond the same way. :(

I think this is most

Comment by Bettina Marie (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 20:23

I think this is most certainly another reason why I just can't move to the city...that and I like living in towns with trees and grass and far less city air pollution and noise XD;;;...and the crowds! O_O dear lord the crowds!!!

Oh god the horror

Comment by Aube (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 21:00

I've only been to NYC a few times, went about twice a year while in College in Vermont. Every time we would get stuck either on or very near to time square, (Model UN most of the time). I hated the overly large crowds. I know its NYC but Time Square is a whole different story.

Time Square, is a bitch

A while back I got Broadway tickets for my birthday, the play was on December 31st... In the late afternoon. By the time the play got out the new years crowd had already packed themselves in. There was more people on a single block then I thought physically possible. It wasn't a sea... A sea implies that you might be able to wade (or fight) through... No, no this was a solid single mass of drunk tourists, packed so tight that the police had to get blockades to keep them from spilling out onto the road.... Time Square, what fun

When I used to go to school

When I used to go to school in NYC I always cringed when friends and family from out of the area wanted to go to Times Square.

This reminds me why.

I've only been to Times

I've only been to Times Square once in my life--and then, there was all this construction in the middle of it. So my personal image of Times Square is a lot of construction, and one mediocre Japanese restaurant.

I'm excited about this project you're talking about!

Last time I was in Times Square, a massive crowd of 100+ hockey jersey-wearing Canadians were there, lining the streets and yelling in French.

...I never learned why.

hockey game?

Since they were standing in front of the Disney store, I have no idea, lol.

Also (since I'm too excited to wait until Thursday's comic to post something), so excited about your newest project! Best wishes and good luck to all of you!

Yeah, pretty much

Comment by Skie (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 22:18

That's exactly why I avoid Times Square like the plague. I even dread transferring trains there.

However, I can say that things have improved considerably with one of the roads in times square being converted into a pedestrian-only area. The tables and things are nice and the added walking space makes things a little more bearable!

(But it's still awful.)

Comment by theshim (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 22:36

I work a couple blocks from there. I get to wade through the sea of humanity every day.

Aw... So much hate!

Comment by Tsin (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 22:40

Being from a pretty empty part of NJ (not rural though I can walk to a farm in about 15 minutes), I find the crowds of Times Square refreshing and lively! Probably if I had to deal with them day in and day out in a terrible traffic sort of way, I would come to hate it as well... But for the moment and for the foreseeable future, I will come to think of it as... fun. Or fun~ish at the very least.

... I am also a kind of hulking dude so maybe the crowds don't bother me as much.

Trying to bring some happiness to the Square though!

So, I have only been to New

Comment by Jellyfish (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 23:10

So, I have only been to New York once and only spent about 2 days there, but we ended up with a hotel literally right around the corner from the empire state building and as a result we wandered through Times Square a few times during our travels without really realizing it. It wasn't until we traipsed through it at night that we realized where we were. We stopped and gawked like the awed tourists that we were and I was REALLY sad that this happened the one time during this vacation that I didn't have my camera with me.

OH gods...

Comment by AmbrosiaWriter (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 23:52

I avoid Times Square. I've been going to school in Brooklyn for about four years now and I'm glad I haven't had to go into the square. Back in middle school I went to the last ever Big Apple Anime Fest and stayed in a hotel in Times Square, it wasn't so bad. Probably because it was lightly drizzling the entire weekend, but seriously...

The next time I went I got so angry because I hate massive crowds jammed together, it puts me in such a bad mood.

More Like Times Scare

Comment by mannyC (not verified) Tue, 01/24/2012 - 23:56

Haha, this is how I am all of the time I'm in NYC with someone else. Whenever my parents want to go, they're like "LET'S GO TO TIMES SQUARE" and then i'm like "okay go have fun."

I feel Times Square is a place all the newbies want to see and learn to avoid after their first time in the city.

That dude's mustache in frame 3, I want to play in it.

Well, it *IS* Evan's epic

Well, it *IS* Evan's epic 'stache. It's pretty fantastic.

I've only been above-ground

Comment by Phillip Albrecht (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 03:20

I've only been above-ground in Times Square a few times. Sucked every time. Once was between Xmas and New Year's. I'm insane, guys.

Also, project? Eeeeeeeeeee

I think I know what it is, but I won't say.

crowds bad!

Comment by deva713 (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 03:51

My mother and I are both notorious for our dislike of crowds. After about an hour we both reach our "if another stranger touches me I'm going to snap" point and so have to take periodic breaks sitting down to eat or even just on an out of the way bench to avoid people! Also, Evan? Sweet coat with the hoodie!

And for those wondering...

Williamsburg/Greenpoint is the second worst place

Comment by Claire (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 05:03

The face in the last panel... that is also my giant-crowd-facing-face. *shudder* I've enjoyed my visits to NYC. I've never been to Times Square. I think this is not coincidental.

Comment by mike (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 08:56

You know, i've always asked myself this question; why is there so many people at IKEA?
I mean, do people buy furniture all the time, it's the worst shop ever. Unless you go on a Monday, now that's something worth seeing. An empty IKEA is a vision of happiness for me.

I love IKEA

Comment by Alison (not verified) Thu, 01/26/2012 - 09:32

Maybe I'm weird, but I love IKEA. My friend has to go get a coffee table and five of us are going with her. We don't need any furniture. We just love IKEA. I plan on making them listen to JoCo's IKEA song at least once on the way there.

As much as I really want to

Comment by Tillie (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 11:11

As much as I really want to buy the book RIGHT NOW, this time I am holding off so I can buy it from you guys in person. At MoCCA, perhaps?

Also, I work in Times Square. In the heart of it. In the clogged, congested heart that never stops beating. Apart from tourist season, it sucks the most when it's pouring rain and you have to duck under a canopy of umbrellas while keeping your eyes clear of umbrella spokes.

Also also, I have been slapped in the face by a dumb tourist who was posing grandly for a photo, neglecting to look where her hand was being flung. Left a red mark on my cheek and a smudge on my glasses...

The view from the office is nice, though.

Man, that's weird. I don't

Comment by Ace (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 12:06

Man, that's weird. I don't even mind Times Square and I live just outside the city. I even took my parents there in December and while it was packed (Christmas and all that) they still enjoyed themselves, mostly because they came there to gawk and not to get anything done.

One time I had an interview in the fashion district and I opted to walk through times square instead of taking the bus since I had extra time...
I guess I'm crazy.

I mean, I do hate getting brushed against by random strangers and getting stuck behind people that walk too slow normally, but Times Square just doesn't make me mad. Unless it's a girl with a giant purse swinging around to look at things and randomly hitting everyone around her with the purse sticking way out from under her arm because she can't be assed to be self-aware of what she's doing...

My Special Edition copy

Comment by Faiga (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 12:47

My Special Edition copy arrived today! I was so excited to see it laying in front of my door after my first class ended. It's a great pick me up since the heat went out last night and I slept in all my coats. Urggg....I have yet to shower too. Oh the woes of shitty university apartments.

Times Square

Comment by Uscias (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 12:54

Yeah, last time I was in NYC. I decided I'd rather miss all the pretty nighttime stuff and diverted to 8th avenue when I saw the massive crowd...

Is that Conrad? I thought he

Comment by oddish (not verified) Wed, 01/25/2012 - 17:13

Is that Conrad? I thought he died or something! Also, I know that feel; once when I was with my friends they decided to go to times square after school, and I just was GONE. I didn't even know how to get to my train but I was out of there.

Oh my gosh

Comment by Alison (not verified) Thu, 01/26/2012 - 09:27

Times Square is the worst. I've only been to New York City three times, and every time I seem to end up in Times Square and wish I was dead.

Also I just ordered a special edition book! Can't wait to get it :3

Oh Lord...

Comment by Valdrake (not verified) Thu, 01/26/2012 - 09:27

When I was living in NYC, I would do EVERYTHING in my power to not have to go through Times Square. I didn't care how much longer it took me to get to where I needed to go, anything to avoid that giant crowd and all the tourists. *shivers*

I totally agree...

Comment by Tomixcomics (not verified) Thu, 01/26/2012 - 11:30

I totally agree... If by "horrible" you mean "Freaking awesome!" What is wrong with you people?! Tiems square is one of the coolest places on the planet!

You all grew up in Hamlets! HAMLETS I SAY
