Gangster Yuko
Comment by David Herbert (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 19:34Personally I hate suits, really REALLY just hate wearing them, they're so uncomfortable.
Tailored Suit
Comment by MarkyMark (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 08:42Try out a properly tailored suit, it will change your life. I abhorred suits until I tried on one that was tailored for my physique; and after it was tailored for me it's been my favorite outfit of all time. It's like the difference between crappy mittens that don't fit and have holes inside and stuffing scratching your hands; and cashmere lined leather gloves.
Yakuza
Comment by Softy (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 19:35Yuko's been on the inside this whole time!
The dragon was great and so were the ponies
Comment by Alain (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 20:08Hey, you're at nearly the same place you were 2 years ago when I drove all the way to Toronto for TCAF, and bought your collectivly - arted pony book. When I came by there were no lines and Yuko drew a really neat dragon in my pony book. This year I'll ask her to draw one of her unique versions of lady Shepard inside one of those books, if there's no line up. I know about lady Shepard mainly through Yuko's drawings of her.
P.S. All the stories in the pony book were great fun.
gonta-cam
Comment by Remy (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 20:15Can I just say the alt text for this one is just perfect. I moved the mouse over to the computer screen just as I read that part and the alt text just made it ten times funnier.
First thing I notice...
Comment by Anonymous 2.0 (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 20:38Skyping with Gonta. "What is this magic?!?"
Btw, Love the comic!
"These shoes are going to be the death of me."
Comment by Reynard61 (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 21:41Then get some more-comfortable shoes or sandals. (Contrary to what the Fashion Police may tell you, women *can* wear sandals with a suit if they're the right style and color.)
I can totally understand,
Comment by rufi (not verified) Thu, 05/03/2012 - 22:42I can totally understand, though, if Yuko simply:
1. could not find the right size for shoes that looked more comfortable.
2. could not find the right colour for shoes that were the right size and looked comfortable.
3. could not have the time to look for shoes that were the right size and looked more comfortable after finding shoes that were reasonably the right size and colour, even if they weren't that comfortable.
Because I HATE shopping, so when I need to go get shoes, I try to do it as fast as I possibly can, and then compensate with Scholl's comfort gel thingies.
Actually yeah, if I may be so bold to suggest: grab those if you see them Yuko for those shoes! They will help IMMENSELY!
not in Japan
Comment by MarkyMark (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 08:44Nobody can wear sandals with a suit in Japan ;p
Unless you're a teacher and are visiting a different school and didn't bring your own indoor shoes, and wear the indoor sandals provided.
^^^^ THIS ^^^^
Comment by typing (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 10:23Guh, wasn't even wearing sandals but I got in such shite at work because I had a soft velvet black shoe instead of the polished black leather one time. Manager had the worst time trying to even explain why my shoes were wrong without coming out and telling me she wanted me to wear heels because company policy states that I don't have to wear heels.
I got her in the end. Found an old lady shoe store with some shiny black leather shoes that were so comfortable.
If Yuko's feet are around 22.5cm then she should check out some of the obachan shoe stores cus they have some pretty nice shoes for low prices that are very comfy.
Worst part of my story of getting in trouble. She tells me this while wearing bright red hooker heels which are TOTALLY against company regulation.
da beech.
Out of curiosity is it just
Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Sun, 05/06/2012 - 19:26Out of curiosity is it just an etiquette thing? Is there a reason sandals aren't allowed?
Not etiquette... Well
Comment by typing (not verified) Mon, 05/07/2012 - 10:15Not etiquette... Well kinda... I mean one sandals just don't go with suits.
And it's a normal business thing, Japan is much more about business presentation so teachers, regular business people, everyone working on a deemed "professional" level has to look good. You wouldn't see a wallstreet guy in sandals.
Different schools are different though. I had slip on's when I worked at a high school and some people had slippers because the floors were wood so everyone had indoor shoes. You could wear sandals there.
Beware the tiny girl....
Comment by Cowdog (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 00:42Its the quiet ones you have to watch out for. Well dressed tiny girls carry large firearms. I read it on the internet, so its true!
I knew it
Comment by Deih (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 00:53Yuko's a yakuza!
She kind of looks like Spike in that suit..
interesting sight
Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 06:16Okay, now I REALLY want to see Yuko in the suit..
OH MAN STARBUCKS
Comment by typing (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 10:18If you're still in Japan you gotta try the new choco cookie crumble with white chocolate pudding frap. It's pretty damn tastey. Though I wish they'd make it a little thicker but I guess it is supposed to be a drink not ice cream. :T
Yuko in a suit?
Comment by Todd (not verified) Fri, 05/04/2012 - 11:48Will there be photos?
D'AAAWWWWWW

Comment by TheMightyPegasus (not verified) Sat, 05/05/2012 - 06:25The first thing we did on our trip to Japan: go to 7-11 and get onigiri for breakfast the next day! You are a mad genius, Yuko.
TCAF
Comment by Sethar (not verified) Sat, 05/05/2012 - 12:11I saw you guys at TCAF today, Yuko was signing some person's book. That line was MASSIVE. I was going to wait in it but it was moving at about one person per ten minutes.
Yakuza outfit
Comment by Giuliano (not verified) Sat, 05/05/2012 - 13:48We now are aching to see a foto of Yuko in that prefessional gambler/yakuza suit!
Enjoying your Japan trip subject stuff
Comment by mylemonblue (not verified) Sat, 05/05/2012 - 17:56Careful with the dressing up for the trip. You might get a job offer or something and end up staying Japan. Then we'd all have to help scheme a way to get Ananth a job there too. LOL. You two both rock! Thanks for all the comic awesome. ^__^

GONTA
Comment by SuileanDubh (not verified) Tue, 05/08/2012 - 12:01I love Gonta so much! I giggled in the middle of the coffee shop at that. You guys make me so sad that I can't get a little kitten yet. The saddest. Evar. TT.TT
Plans for the south?
Comment by Ruzzy (not verified) Tue, 05/08/2012 - 15:01I'd love to visit you if you're anywhere near Georgia!
I can't believe you guys
Comment by Cameron (not verified) Thu, 05/10/2012 - 00:45I can't believe you guys were there! I went to see Brian Lee O'Malley... I didn't even know they were using the second floor! My one chance missed...
Ah I wish I had known TCAF existed!
Comment by Kailey (not verified) Fri, 05/11/2012 - 22:36I am a huge comic nerd from southern Ontario. Somehow I never knew about TCAF. Wha? How is that?
But I didn't and travelled out of the province early.
I was comfortably in another province when I found out that you guys would be there. Insert Rage meme face here.
So I did the next best option. I sent my friend to say hello and acquire a book. She was really shy to meet you guys but inside was super excited and is a huge fan of your work (almost as much as I am :P)
Anyways, I've been reading for a couple of years now, and I thought it was about time I said I love your work and I check for updates obsessively.
Keep being awesome!
Hey!
