New comic! Yuko's in Japan, so I'm holding down the fort. New comic on Thursday! See you then!

Almost impossible to read

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 00:28

Almost impossible to read the punchline, it's somehow smaller than the text usually is.

I don't understand why she can't just hide it.

Scarves? Turtlenecks? Sure, her neck will be hot, but if it causes her so much problems, she's better off dealing with a sweaty neck.

You left the 'p' out in 'up'

You left the 'p' out in 'up' ;)

Looks like she's seriously

Comment by Frip (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 03:13

Looks like she's seriously considering this kid might be a vampire. lqtm. Thanks for sharing these pages with us!

he is smaller than you just kick him

Comment by william (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 04:29

she should take him outside and dip him headfirst in a swamp
also why does she care what he thinks i dont think a 11 year old is running a business :P

What have you done to me?!

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 05:45

How is it that Penny is my favorite character ever already?! She feels so likable and real and I want her to succeed so badly. What kind of voodoo magic have you two placed on this story to make me feel for her so much??

that comment wasn't supposed to be anonymous, I forgot to enter my name. :\

Me too....

She's just so likeable and clumsy. Heck, if she exist irl I think I want to date her.

gentlemen put the seat down and then the seat cover as well, that way nobody wins

I'm not sure where this came

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 10:38

I'm not sure where this came from, but actually a recent conversation at lunch at work (...I love my job, actually) covered the "seat up/seat down" issue. We (the females of the group) all agreed that both seats should be down when the toilet is not in use. J (the only guy present) shook his head and told us that his dream house contained a urinal, probably in the garage.

"Both seats"? What, you mean

Comment by poppo (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 20:09

"Both seats"? What, you mean the seat and the lid?
I figure it this way:
A. I always put the lid down because nobody wants to lose anything in the toilet and have to fish it out. And since it's in a bathroom and the toilet's often near the sink, you really don't want to drop your toothbrush in there which has a decent chance of happening. Or worse, a phone or something.
B. If you're gonna leave the lid up, leave the seat down. Which have you ever had to do more urgently - #1 or #2? I'm guessing #2. And rushing in and needing to fiddle with the seat could be a problem. If you have to #1, well at least there's a hole either way. But without a seat and a #2 you may just fall in...

both seats

Comment by Al Paradise (not verified) Thu, 04/18/2013 - 11:42

Yar, I mean both the lid and the seat. Usually the argument about the seat goes this way (at least in my experience):

Girls: The seat should always be down because it's more considerate. Everybody at one point or another uses the seat, so why not leave it like that?

Dudes: Putting the seat back down is a lot of work and I don't wanna.

So if you drop them both neither side wins. Neither side can just automatically be able to use the toilet.

(This is a fun argument to have and it is never not funny.)

I've just gotta say, I love this kid haha! His adult personality is a great foil to Penny's, and what makes it even better is he's actually a kid while she's supposed to be the adult. It will be interesting in the future to see his child side come out though.

That's like "GASP, you're listening to THAT ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC"

*Holding the fort

I'm sorry, I couldn't let that pass

Holding down the fort doesn't make sense, unless you live in a walking fort and you have enough strength to hold it down, which I don't doubt you would really

You apparently have never

Comment by Sleepology (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 20:08

You apparently have never heard that phrase before.

Hey man, even phrase

Comment by Macca (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 20:18

Hey man, even phrase dictionaries agree that "hold down the fort" is an american bastardization of the more semantically sensible "hold the fort". We tend to do that a lot over here. Technically I guess it makes it "wrong" to say it our way but then again, language does change. But, around again, do we really want language to change into nonsense BS like "irregardless" and "I could care less"? It is up to us to decide!

Lets see: Not bothering to

Comment by bob (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 16:09

Lets see:
Not bothering to interview,
Noting trivial details,
Making broad assumptions,
Straight up lying.

This kid is exactly like HR people I have met before at those "getting a job" conventions.

Penny really just needs to

Comment by Matt (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 17:52

Penny really just needs to make up some bullshit reasoning for the tattoo. "The snake devouring it's own tail, Oroboros, represents awareness of oneself, while the heart represents spiritual love; I got it at a very awakened time, to always remind me that I should love and be true to myself." XD

Why are all these youngsters

Comment by Sleepology (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 20:07

Why are all these youngsters so darn tough on Penny :/

More like why does she let

Comment by MadH (not verified) Wed, 04/17/2013 - 20:22

More like why does she let herself get pushed around by kids? She is giving this kid the time of day and letting him lead her around and show power over her. She opened herself up to feeling embarrassed or insulted by his remarks. If she sat quietly and waited for an adult shop owner to come around, she'd be much better off and look more professional to boot.

While I like Penny, I really like this kid. He's like a grandpa.

Many career criminals have tattoos. Therefore everyone who has tattoos are career criminals. It's science!

It's true.

Comment by KevinGriffin3CD (not verified) Fri, 04/19/2013 - 00:04

After I got my tattoo I immediately started shoplifting and pranking sweet old ladies just for hoots. This thing has ruined my morals and my life, oh what have I done.

Ze face

Comment by Evilweirdo (not verified) Fri, 04/19/2013 - 11:12

I find that kid's face in the bottom left panel highly amusing for some reason.

Why hasn't she grown her

Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 05/07/2013 - 23:16

Why hasn't she grown her hair out? It wouldn't completely hide the tattoo obviously, but it would help.
