Coffee Tables and Other Pipe Dreams

This was technically the first Johnny Wander comic I ever drew. There were several that came before, but they weren't in the correct dimensions. This one was drawn some time in the early summer, and the conversation did happen in our last apartment, and we did hold those poses for a good 20 or so seconds. It has been a long desire of John's and mine to have a coffee table. Alas, the apartment we live in now is far too small and it is a big responsibility to have a coffee table.

I was up until 4 am or so finishing up my band poster pinup for Applegeeks. To my credit, I was able to draw and color the thing in five hours. This is likely a personal record for me. You should go look!

There there ... we'll get you a coffee table once you're old enough. A coffee table is a big responsibility ... you have to feed it, walk it, pick up after it ...

Yeah when we got our coffee table, we actually had to fill out all this adoption paperwork. They said we could take the table on a trial basis, but they'd check in every few weeks to see how the table was doing. I guess we made a good impression, the table is here with us to stay!

Although IKEA's coffee tables don't require much assembly, you know your relationship is solid if you can put together anything from that store.

I have a really nice coffee table that's just sitting in the basement. It could use a little TLC (maybe a light sanding and oiling), but it's about 4.5'x2.5'. I'm sure my wife would allow it to go.

We really appreciate the offer, but the problem right now is that we don't have enough room for a coffee table. Our apartment is pretty small and based on the amount of space we have between the couch and the television, anything between them would make it impossible to walk into the apartment through the front door. We get by in the meantime, but some day...

That's too bad...I hope you can find a bigger place soon. In the meantime, maybe you could get one of those fold-up ironing boards and mount it to the door? It would be out of the way normally, and you could fold it down like a coffee table.

I was rather lucky, I inherited my coffee table from my grandad. It's in need of sanding and re-varnishing but it is a nice coffee table.

It is also used for everything but coffee - college work, warhammer models, warhammer battles we have these pirate battles on there too with these click to assemble pirate ships.

I realized the other day when I excitedly grabbed a catalog full of window treatments -- not even curtains so much as blinds -- and squee'ed like a kid with a toy catalog. BLINDS.

...sigh.

There's also a rug I really want. Can't afford it, not ready to decorate the room it'd be for, so I just visit the website and drool every now and then.

yep, the bf and I wanted to get a coffee table from IKEA as soon as we moved in together. Sadly, that dream has yet to be realized...On a positive note, we did purchase dining room set from there so it's all gravy!
