enter rachelle!
Rachelle, who was kind enough to make the comic for us this evening, makes her first appearance in this comic! It was quickly established that whenever video games were played on the same system Rachelle would be Player 1 and I would be Player 2. Not once in the last two years has this rule been broken, and the way things are going it doesn't look like it ever will be.
Oh, how I yearn for that light in the upper-left-hand corner of the xbox controller.
Anyways, as stated earlier Yuko will be making her glorious return on Tuesday! Also now that my schedule is freed up slightly I finally have time to finish those edits to the Johnny Wander page that I was talking about some time ago! I'm counting on you the faithful reader to keep me legit on my promise to come through for this, too, so pester away. Have a good weekend everybody!

Hehe
Comment by Davemon (not verified) Wed, 03/25/2009 - 23:27I always liked playing as P2 anyway. The colors were always cooler. GO RED CONTRA GUY!!!
Meh
Comment by JSRadio (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 00:30I never made a big deal about it, as long as Player 1 was competent of guiding their way through the menus and didn't take 50 hours to start actually playing.
It's just always been a thing
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 00:53I don't think it really has anything to do with who's faster at navigating menus and stuff for me. I think it's because it's MY system and MY game. Probably because when I was little my brother was always monopolizing all the game stuff haha.
yeah, siblings...
Comment by Naktarr (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 04:09My sister used to do the same thing, but these days its made me unwilling to play games I own with anyone else, or have anyone watch me.
No multiplayer for me :/
Stupid sister...
So what should we expected
Comment by Sovy Kurosei (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 03:37So what should we expected with the new edits, Conrad?
Hahahaha, yeah
Comment by McClaud (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 04:08My wife is the same way. Except that it is my XBox, which by extention is "her" XBox. Which is to say it's not the same with our Wii. It's her Wii but there's not extention to make it "my" Wii.
I'm okay with this. I knew for a long time that sometimes what's mine is hers and what's hers is hers. lolz
Maybe girls are just like that.
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 21:58Conrad's 360 is "my" 360, because I (as well as Yuko, Ananth, and gang) bought it for him haha. I know it's an unfair claiming, but claim away I will.
Dumb question
Comment by kimbachan (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 07:24I know it's a dumb question, but is it pronounced Ray-chelle or Ra-shell (does that make any sense?)
The second one
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 21:38It's pronounced Ra-Shell. My dad thought it sounded french or something lol. Actually I guess in France they pronounce it more like Rachel. I get called Rachel, Michelle, Rochelle, and probably more. Sometimes it gets irritating.
Well Conrad, in your urge to
Comment by TeninSeed (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 08:21Well Conrad, in your urge to update the site you should add Rachelle to the cast page and give her a character card. only seems fair to her. Along with all the other minor characters that have shown up. Yuko's mom and such.
Anyway I just want to say I only recently started reading Johnny Wander, but they are awsome. Keep it up.
heh
Comment by Enzel (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 09:29Oddly enough, when playing with my friends, they always just sort of expect me to be 1st player even though I never say anything. Then they complain when I scroll through dialogue too fast. (I read twice as fast as the rest of them, I guess) But nobody volunteers to take over as 1st player. I wonder if it's different with versus games as opposed to multiplayer co-op RPGS, which is what we play...
You must be special
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 21:40Maybe you have some sort of leadership quality? Or a domineering personality haha. Either way, that's awesome.
Also:
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 22:03Multiplayer co-op RPG's are a yes! There's not too many of them though :/
Like Eternal Sonata and the Tales games? I'm always the leader (1st Player) in those too. In versus games it must matter a lot less. Then you're just fighting over which horribly downsized box you are on the screen haha.
yes!
Comment by Enzel (not verified) Sat, 03/28/2009 - 13:34Yep, the newest Tales games, and Eternal Sonata is next on our list. (once we beat Tales of the Abyss.) It's surprising how much easier things are with four players. The player character AI is TERRIBLE.
Well, now every time I play
Comment by MarkyMark (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 09:58Well, now every time I play games with Conrad I'll hafta make him be player 2. Can't break tradition.
Oooooh!
Comment by John Kelly (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 10:55*Insert a funny joke here about P1 and P2 as euphemisms for who wears the pants in your relationship.*
Conrad never wears pants. Or
Comment by Ananth Thu, 03/26/2009 - 11:23Conrad never wears pants. Or clothes for that matter. Unless society dictates, anyway ...
Even then, it's a gamble huh
Comment by Michael M. (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 18:07Even then, it's a gamble huh
Yup
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 22:05Although I think he's been wearing pants more these days haha.
hmm...
Comment by stevehill (not verified) Sat, 03/28/2009 - 12:48And somehow without even saying anything, Conrad has managed to work his balls into the conversation. XD
I have a similar
Comment by Michael M. (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 18:09I have a similar relationship with my brother when it comes to player status. I stipulated in my funeral that I leave him P1 when I die.
Hahaha
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Thu, 03/26/2009 - 21:43Some things just never change huh? Someday I will play with my brother again... and then we'll see who's who >:D
Prize Fight
Comment by Joe (not verified) Fri, 03/27/2009 - 07:32The 1st Player spot has always been kind of a prize in my group of friends. A reward saying "You got here first, now you have complete control of what mode and level we play." Because no matter how diplomatic we try to be, we always end up playing the levels that 1st Player is the undisputed king of.
There are days
Comment by McClaud (not verified) Fri, 03/27/2009 - 19:46When we have to switch who is what player because of where we are sitting in the house. If I'm sitting on the right, I need to be player 2, because usually, player 2's split screen is on the right. Etc.
I can never play it any other way with my wife. Otherwise, she gets waaaay confused. "I keep thinking that I'm the guy on the *** side of the screen since I'm sitting on the ***." And then we end up dying. Horribly. Messily.
Same way
Comment by Mel (not verified) Fri, 03/27/2009 - 22:38My entire family is the same way. They have to sit on the side of the TV based on what player they are. "I thought I was the other guy" is the #1 excuse for losing in my house.
As for being player #1, I never really cared, but my younger sister insists that she be it. However, we DID set up other rules we followed. For example, when we played Gauntlet II for the NES back in the day, no one could be the same character (so there would be one warrior, valkyrie, wizard, and elf each)because everyone wanted to be the elf since it was the quickest character. We decided who was what by speed; she with the fastest fingers won first pick. Thus, I was always the green (go player #4!) elf with all the loot. And I have never given up that title. :P
You know that there's a
Comment by Rachelle (not verified) Sun, 03/29/2009 - 18:00You know that there's a trickier way to do that right?
Because if you have loot grabby hands, you can sell your loot and then buy more speed. That's what I always did and nobody really tried to figure it out. Needless to say, nobody plays gauntlet with me haha.
Somehow i knew...within
Comment by Benjamin (not verified) Wed, 04/01/2009 - 10:58Somehow i knew...within seconds of finishing the comic...that that was Rachelle
error
Comment by Wyndham (not verified) Thu, 04/02/2009 - 19:49the controller's control stick and dpad are in reversed positions. o_o
