zooLOLOLogy
This is a comic idea we've had sitting around for a while! Yuko and I were driving somewhere and we must have been talking about LOLcats or something, because then we started going back and forth with our own LOLimals. It's become a running joke between the two of us every since ... Suffice it to say, this is a very silly comic. XD Indulge us!
Yuko wants me to mention that the art is pretty simple today because she's feeling terribly sick. Yuko's half Japanese, and inherited really good genes from both of her parents, so it's a little weird to see her ill, ever.
I should mention that new Phoenix Down shirts arrive this week! And also, I wanted to return a link to Nemu-Nemu - they were kind enough to link us, and moreover their comic is pretty adorable. Thanks guys

Comment by Kai (not verified) Thu, 01/29/2009 - 13:27I have friends who do this with countries and people and RP characters, even if the LOL doesn't fit. It kind of makes it funnier.
Well thats a little hatin on the white guy
Comment by Decad (not verified) Thu, 01/29/2009 - 14:01Honestly saying that just cos she's half japanese means she's less likely to get ill? With no scientific data to back it up?
For shame Ananth. For shame.
I never get ill and I'm as central european as they come.
This is quite true, my dad
Comment by ZokiE (not verified) Thu, 01/29/2009 - 18:23This is quite true, my dad and sister are quite certainly fully swedish, and they never get sick, me on the other hand.... meh
Prep for science insertion!
Comment by Decad (not verified) Fri, 01/30/2009 - 00:18Immunity does not stem from genetics. The strength and adaptability of your immune system is affected by genetics but your actually immunities are not.
You get those through various means over the course of your life by being breastfed as a child (mother passes on her antibodies which your body copies) also by living in close proximity to your family & other people(they carry a disease which they are immune to but pass on to you) and of course vaccinations and such.
Then yeah there is your bodies own ability to use all this which is part genetics, diet, exercise and many more factors :D
That is your science for the day!
Although Ananth obviously needs some more :P
*discreetly signs him up for a molecular biology class*

This certainly doesn't misalign with what I said. ;) I know exactly how immunity and genetics work.
Man, you're awfully quick to get indignant about race! It's not that Yuko is half-Japanese, it's that she's half anything. Increased genetic diversity produces more fit individuals. Period.
You like to poke people ... I guess that's your bag. Don't attempt to patronize me again. This is your one warning ... it's not even personal, I just have very little patience for this kind of bullshit.
Well that certainly explains
Comment by Chris (not verified) Fri, 01/30/2009 - 08:46Well that certainly explains alot, seeing as I'm mostly Mexican (with 1/8 Philippino blood) with a lot more Spaniard in me than my siblings, I tend to get sick more often than they do. My mother is a 1/4 philipino, and she never gets sick, so maybe that has something to do with it.
It must be nice to have a mixed set of genes like Yuko has ^_^ Being sick sucks. I hope you feel better soon Yuko, and if there's a bright side to being sick its that you get plenty of time to reflect on stuff you normally don't get to. At least that's my take on it, seeing as I've gotten over my 2nd cold this new year.
Mixed Ethnicity Isn't Everything
Comment by Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 02/02/2009 - 00:45Eh, being mixed doesn't ensure anything. I'm a really mixed bag--half Asian, half White, multinational on both sides--and I get sick more than almost anyone I know. Heck, I'm sick right now. (So I certainly wish a strong immune system was linked back to multiracialism, but I'm not convinced it's true.)
Not that
Comment by Decad (not verified) Fri, 01/30/2009 - 12:08I have had a lot of "I'm better than you because I'm ****" over the course of my life. Worst part is the UK government doesn't exactly help anyone who is actually a native of this country.
So am I a little touchy about people claiming superiority because of race? yes.
Seriously.
