GUYS WE HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT SPACKLEHAUS
There isn't a total vocabulary to describe how bizarre the year in Spacklehaus was. The name Spacklehaus is a story in and of itself, but in any event it was an old house right outside downtown Rochester. The landlord's name was Mort, which, I thought to myself, sounded like the name of an orcish innkeeper. Let it be known, this is one of those times a person looks exactly like their name sounds, much to your discomfort. Mort is also a story for later, though.
Hey guys! Phoenix Down is a shirt Yuko designed for Mutagenics a little while ago - we decided to do a small run of them, to be sold through her Etsy account. If you submit an order, PLEASE INCLUDE THE SIZE YOU WANT IN THE SELLERS COMMENTS. This helps us know what to order for you. ;)
This happened a couple of weeks ago, on the way home from an Art Fight. Jami dropped us off at Yuko's car, which was parked at a remote location ... Yuko was tired and isn't much of a night driver, so I offered to drive. We hopped onto the beltway and we were about 15 minutes away from my house when the engine started hesitating. The hesitation built into a rumbling, and then the engine groaned. We got off the beltway as the speedometer forcibly dropped from 30 to 20 to 5.
I don't even know what I'm supposed to write about! Except that, sadly, they never got a coffee table ... there just wasn't enough room. Some day guys ... keep on living the dream.
We went and looked at some coffee tables at Ikea, and all I can say is that I (we) love their furniture, and their coffee tables are no exception. Ikea makes me want to buy furniture I don't need ...
God, I'm seriously running out of steam here. Someone help me out.
Maybe I'm not as enthusiastic about coffee tables because I don't like coffee. Yeah ...
It really is a cute skirt. I didn't force Yuko to get it, but she said the only way she'd ever wear a skirt is if it was given to her. I think she meant it to be dismissive, but I took her at her word and now she is burdened with a black H & M skirt. She actually got another one recently - it's a nice rust color. That might make me Yuko's arch nemesis in her quest to look like a guy ... Love and war and all that, I suppose.
We are in the tank for free food. There is a clear bias here, and you should only expect skewed coverage.
Anyway, this was our election day. We went and voted, and then we went out and got as much free food as we could possibly have without making ourselves sick. In the evening, Archer, Eve, Joe, Hayley and Mike stopped by to watch the election coverage with us. We got a Vermonster from Ben and Jerry's to follow up the free ice cream we got there earlier.
At the risk of our own street cred, we're coming to you with a plea that you please, please please vote. I know it's not very cool or edgy and in fact it's very goody two-shoes, but that's okay. We're willing to risk our rep for your sake, and for the sake of America.
Also, tomorrow Starbucks is giving away free cups of coffee and Ben & Jerry's is giving away free ice cream to people who have voted. So there you go - if you're a punk and you were thinking of skipping out, now you have some incentive to drop in at the polls.
... this is how it happens. It's not really on purpose, but with 4 people on 4 different schedules, things can get a little tricky to coordinate. Conrad finds himself in this situation a couple of times a week on a pretty regular basis. I get the feeling that he's getting used to it, or at least learning to expect it. The joke's on him ... One day we'll drive away and never come back.
This is basically what happened at SPX a couple of weeks ago ... as you can see, we make great effort to keep up to date. I got sick for a week, Conrad got sick for a day or two, and Yuko got sick for under 6 hours, which I think might be a record for her longest time being sick (she has biologically superior genes). I'm still getting over the last of it.
