SPX
This is the new image from the back of the business card we're handing out at shows. Pretty adorable! Yuko is a mastermind.
We're back from SPX! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us - or just to say hi! The books went like hotcakes and it's all thanks to you guys and gals, so - THANK YOU!! You really made our weekend. One Adam WarRock also made my weekend, but more about that soon!
Sometimes Evan is like a laser, straight and true, and this was one of those times. And to be fair, he had a really good argument for being a cat, which he'll perhaps elaborate on in the comments if you really want to know. If you're coming to SPX, tell us what animal you would be!
Speaking of SPX, we'll be at booth F10 - see the handy map below,

and we will have these babies:
It's a sauna down there, and showering becomes a moot point once you're down on the platform. New York has an extensive subway system, which is great, but it's also old, so it wasn't constructed with maximum ventilation in mind. It's usually worth it to wait till you come home to shower, but that's just me.
We have two copies of our book!! Here they are,

He was really excited about chi! Just something I overheard on the subway on the way back from an excursion into the city. Public transit is good for listening in on other peoples' conversations, often whether you want to or not. But I usually want to - sometimes I get a good quote for dialogue or some insight into a group of people (like Wall St).
I should mention that Yuko drew this comic despite being sick - thank you! There are beads of sweat in this ink!! A testament to her grit and dedication.
Our new roommate is Evan Dahm, who some of you might know from his works Rice Boy, Order of Tales, and most recently Vattu. Yuko is a fan! But luckily not one of those superfans that looks over you shoulder and asks questions and ... w-wait ... Welcome to NYC, Evan!
Yuko wore a skirt the first day of SPX, which as we have previously established is mighty unusual! It was mega cute, though - despite all of the exclamations, she got plenty of compliments. And despite that huge grin she drew me with in the first panel, it wasn't my idea for her to wear it! Totally self-motivated. She also got a new haircut which she decided she hates but really it is pretty cute.
how to ensure yuko never wears a skirt again

Wed, 10/22/2008This is basically what happened at SPX a couple of weeks ago ... as you can see, we make great effort to keep up to date. I got sick for a week, Conrad got sick for a day or two, and Yuko got sick for under 6 hours, which I think might be a record for her longest time being sick (she has biologically superior genes). I'm still getting over the last of it.
